After the initial hook, Devil in the Dark slows to a steady jog of plot and character development, techno-babble and anticipation. You, as a reader can see what is coming from what is going on in the story. When it comes, it is a none-stop, graphic bloodbath. It becomes a page-turner, with a number of surprises and jump-scares just like the first novel in the series, In the Cold and the Dark. (I recommend reading In the Cold and the Dark first! The connections between the two novels are real subtle.) You find yourself wondering who is going to be next in the never-ending slaughter, and feeling kind of sad when one of the characters you started to like meets their end. Great ending with an excellent epilogue that makes you want to read the sequel. I would also like to read a prequel dealing with the events just before this novel. The next book BETTER be a sequel or prequel dealing with the events on Titan!Product details

The Devil in the Dark The Dark Solar System Series eBook C K Prothro Reviews
I enjoyed "devil in the dark" which could be described as Alien meets Outland. The story takes some time to build and is filled with technical details that could be seen as distracting to some readers, but once the main story is underway it sprints on for several hundred pages. If you liked "In the Cold and the Dark", C.K. Prothro's other novel in the series you should like this one as well.
